Dr Abdelwahed
is a Research Assistant
Professor in the
Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at
Vanderbilt University. He is also a research scientist at the
Institute for Software
Integrated Systems (ISIS) at
Vanderbilt University.
He received his
Ph.D. degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the
University of Toronto, Canada,
in 2002 under the supervision of Professor
W. M. Wonham with the discrete event system group.
Between 2000 and
2001 He worked as a research scientist with the system diagnosis
group at the Rockwell Scientific Company. He received the Master
of Science in Electrical Engineering in 1993 from the department of
Communication and Electronics Engineering, Cairo University, Egypt.
Dr. Abdelwahed
research interests include autonomous self-managing computing systems,
model-based design of embedded systems, verification of real-time
systems, supervisory control of discrete event systems, model-based
fault diagnosis, and model integrated computing. His research work
have been funded by DARPA, NASA, NSF, and Boeing.
Dr. Abdelwahed is a senior member of the
IEEE, a member of Scientific Research Society (Sigma Xi), and a
member of the IEEE SCC20 Diagnostic and
Maintenance Control standardization committee.
